I keep writing about how amazing our bodies are and its constant changing needs. I assure you this is true. During my last eight years while living in New York my routine was pretty strict. We would get up at 4:30 AM to make sure I had time to shower and have a good breakfast before my 6 AM client Monday through Friday. I had a break between my morning clients and my afternoon clients, and my normal workout time could range between 8:30 and 9 AM and last about 90 minutes. My body felt great during my workouts, and I would still feel energized for my afternoon clients.
I have always preferred working out in the morning rather than in the evening, even when I had to teach my Jazzercise classes at night. For the most part, I have been able to stick to working out in the mornings. I know my body and it just prefers that time of day. In the past two years of being at home, my routine changed, and I started working out later in the day, sometimes not even starting until 11:30 AM or noon. The other morning, I tried to start my workout at 8:30 AM and my body said NO! I started to feel a bit nauseous, and my energy was low and I wasn’t able to perform the movements at my usual level.
Although I still get up early to virtually train my amazing clients by 6:30 AM or 7 AM during the week, I just don’t seem to be able to workout before 11 AM. It doesn’t feel good on my body either right now or anymore time will tell. Now I know part of this is partially due to the change of my routine, but it is also due to my aging body, this is not a negative statement or self-deprecating It’s a reality, my body is fifty years old and it needs more preparation that it did at twenty. I love learning about my body and its constant changing needs.
